Oh how I desire that this law comes to my dear country Nigeria. This should what they should be striving for and no the Gay law! Just Pull your pants below your waist and you would be fined heavily.
The trend started in the 90’s after inmates were banned from owning belts in prison.
The law comes out of Jefferson Davis Parish in Louisiana and has effectively banned anyone from exposing their underwear or skin from beneath their pants. Those in violation of the new law will effectively be fined $50 for the first offense and $100 for each consecutive occurrence.
Rappers started to do the same causing those that looked up to them to do the same. Too bad for them, they didn’t know that inmates wore their pants that way to express the desire to have sex with another man within the prison.
Eastman expressed to the media that the habit was getting out of control as, “I had complaints from security guards around the courthouse that there was issues with people not being respectfully dressed in the courtroom area.” He went on to say, “So initially I was going to be for on the courthouse grounds, and the other jurors felt that it was important parish-wide.”
It is reported that Juror Bryon Buller was the man responsible for taking the bill another step further conveying his hope to expand these limits to the town borders rather than just government facilities. Legislatures agreed and passed the bill into law, “making it illegal for anyone to show their undergarments in public to limit indecent and lewd behavior.”
Certain civil liberty groups have come forward in opposition of the law saying that it is unconstitutional as it targets black men. It doesn’t appear as if the law is going anywhere however, as human decency continues to trump ridiculous claims.
Other cities have also recently followed suit such as, “Wildwood, New Jersey, and Cocoa, Florida,” writing up similar bills intended to force constituents to keep their pants pulled up.
What do you think – is this a good law?
