Akinwunmi Ambode, who is the governor of Lagos state, has scrapped the Finance and Administration Department in the state’s civil service, renaming it the Administration and Human Resource Department, The Punch informs.
On Wednesday Shade Jaji, a circular by the Head of Service, explained the decision.
Shade Jaji said: “With the commencement of the professional human resource management practice in the state public service, the hitherto Finance and Administration Department, which was the core of every ministry, department and agency of government, will now be known as the Administration and Human Resource Department charged with the sole responsibility of ensuring the effective and efficient professional running of all MDAs towards realising the goals and objectives of the government.”
The circular noted that the department would comprise five divisions, namely Administration, Workforce Planning and Recruitment, Learning and Development, Employee and Industrial Relations and Human Resources Performance Measures.
